Homework Committee

September 14, 2018seal

Dear Parents & Guardians,

This coming school year the Phoenixville Area School District will embarking on a process to study the concept of homework.  The ultimate goal of this process would be to ultimately inform and establish uniform district homework guidelines.  The process will look very similar to the process currently underway with the study of sleep and school start times.  This would include the examination of research and policy, an audit of what other districts around the region, state and even nationally are currently implementing, as well as consider our own local vision and goals.

To accomplish these objectives, we are currently seeking volunteers to serve on a community-based task force to establish a Homework Committee to thoroughly examine homework and ultimately make a recommendation to the Board of School Directors.  Ideally, the Homework Guidelines Committee would be comprised of a wide-cross section of individuals including teachers, parents, students, administrators, counselors, and community members.  It is our hope to thoroughly examine and study the topic of homework and develop guidelines and procedures that will benefit our students.  Part of our district strategic plan speaks to providing high quality instruction, and homework certainly is a key part of high quality instruction.

If you are interested in serving on the Homework Guidelines Committee, please send an email of interest to homeworkcommittee@pasd.com by September 30th.
