Transition to Post Secondary

Transition Information

At the age of 14, IEP teams begin activities to prepare for a student's transition from secondary education toward post-secondary goals of education, training, employment and independent living.

Below is a list of resources and handouts for parents and guardians to facilitate a student's progress toward achieving their post-secondary goals.

Upcoming Local Events

  • Parent-Teacher Conferences:  Our Office of Vocational Rehabilitation representatives, Ms. Martin and Ms. Webster, will be available for drop in conversations on Monday, November 25, 2019, from 8-10 AM and Tuesday, November 26, 2019, from 8-10 AM and 1-4 PM at the high school.  They will be located in the office on the second floor next to room I-14 at the juncture of the I & J wings, which are the long main hallway and the science wing.

Post-Secondary Education

Post-Secondary Education is education and training, which occurs after high school graduation.  This may include a four-year college, community college, or a vocational training school.

Post-Secondary Employment

Post-Secondary Employment may be independent competitive employment with or without support.

Post-Secondary Independent Living

Post-Secondary Independent Living address whether an individual can live on his/her own or if he/she will require support.
